Eyes of the Guaraná

Eyes of the Guaraná

Skateboard design developed for SOTA - Skate of the Art. This piece was inspired by Brazil's unique and incredible flora and fauna. The Guará wolf was used here as a symbol of fierceness and strenght, as it is often represented. Another center element of this piece would be the guaraná plant, that symbolizes good fortune and strength.

Another source of inspiration was the guaraná legend, an old indigenous story about how the plant came to be. It was said that a little boy of the Sateré-Mawé people was killed by an evil entity, Jurupari, due to the attention he was getting from Tupã  and how helpful he was being by bringing his people food while exploring the forest. The god Tupã, seeing the boy's death, told his parents to bury his eyes in their village, and there should grow a plant that would forever bring energy to his people.
